Cafelito opened its doors this week to its new Stockport Exchange branch and business is booming. The local coffee shop/eatery sits next door to Sainsbury’s local and is the final piece of the puzzle of Stockport Exchange’s second phase. I passed by yesterday and seeing the buzz in and around the café gave me a real insight in to the potential of the finished scheme. Cafelito can be found on their Facebook page.

As part of the ‘Investing in Stockport’ initiative, Stockport Council have started a programme of repairs to the roads across the Stockport Boroughs. It is part of a 100 million pound investment to improve roads and footpaths over a 9 year period. Work has already taken place in areas such as Cheadle Heath, Edgeley, and The Heaton’s North. The whole initiative provides further evidence of the Council’s commitment to making Stockport great again.
The momentum continues to grow at the new Stockport Exchange development as internet giant Music Magpie are the latest firm to sign up to the high spec office space. The company, which allows customers to trade in their unwanted goods for cash, will be moving 50 of their head office employee’s to the new site, whilst also providing themselves with plenty of space to expand their business in the future. Its more great news for the already successful project!
More great news for Stockport Exchange came in last week when it was announced that Stagecoach will be moving their head offices there. They have signed a 15 year lease on three floors of the fantastic new development, which takes it close to it’s full capacity, following the confirmation that Cafelito will be occupying the remainder of the ground floor, next to Sainsbury’s. It’s really starting to take shape!
We had some great news last week when Cafelito announced that they are to open up their new branch, within the new Stockport Exchange development. Opening their first store in St Peter’s Square, Cafelito’s signature coffee and beautiful food menu has become very popular with locals, and will now boast a chain of three stores – not bad after 2 years of trading!

It is one of several events scheduled, highlighting Stockport’s determination to become a retail hotspot – The winners will be announce on May 4th 2017. Stockport Council are pushing on with their Brownfield First approach to new build developments, and are actively on the look out for new sites. If you own or know of a disused site that has development potential then please contact the Council to see if a deal can be done. This is all part of the plan to add new housing to the Town Centre whilst cleaning up disused areas in the process.
More great news for Stockport Town centre arrived last week when two large national brands committed to new shop units within the soon to be refurbished Merseyway. Trespass and Holland & Barratt are the latest in a flurry of brands to commit their business to our town centre, which is a great sign of things to come.
