A public consultation has begun that will ask for opinion around extending Selective Licensing to four new locations in the city totalling around 1,402 private sector homes, those areas include;

  • Clayton and Openshaw – approx 105 PRS properties
  • Harpurhey – approx 430 PRS properties
  • Two areas of Gorton and Abbey Hey – approx 867 PRS properties

If selective license goes ahead in those areas Landlords will need to apply for a license and make sure they adhere to all the requirements ahead of letting. The fee for the license is quite substantial, £650.00. They can stipulate things such as hardwired smoke alarms etc so it is definitely something Landlords will need to consider well in advance.
