Everyone who lives in the Stockport area knows Meadow Mill. The imposing structure has stood mostly empty, save for a few lower level floors, for several years.
Built circa 1880 the Grade II listed building was reputed to have at one time housed 120,000 spindles spinning cotton, but these days it has been looking rather more forlorn.
Thankfully this old mill is getting a facelift and is now the site of a 213-apartment renovation, with numerous one, two- and three-bedroom apartments due to be completing in 2021.
Standing at the gateway into Stockport the development is a stone throw from the major Portwood Roundabout with access onto the M60, into Marple, off to the town centre and up into The Heatons, Reddish and the surrounding areas.
Shopping and eateries will be quite literally on your doorstep, with TESCO a facing, the Town Centre only a few minutes’ walk, and the Peel Centre even closer.
Mill conversion apartments have been high on the list of first-time buyers and buy to let landlords keen to avoid new building housing leases and to capitalise on the excellent growth that the older buildings generate over the years.
Other mills in the area, such as Victoria and Mac Mill, have always proven popular on re-sale so if long term gain is your aim then Meadow Mill would be an excellent place to start. The one bedroom prices start from £99,950 and the two bedrooms from £140,000, but these pre-release figures will rise the longer you leave it.
